Biggest Training of the Year
On Saturday, March 14th, Liberty Action hosted its largest Liberty Candidate Academy of 2026 in Jefferson City, Missouri. 43 candidates and their campaign teams spent the full day learning how to run campaigns and win elections. 48 people had registered, making it the best-attended LCA so far this year.
Field Manager Hannah Determan led the training, covering the practical skills that separate winning campaigns from losing ones.
What Attendees Learned
The full-day training covered:
- Fundraising strategies
- List building for voter contact
- Door knocking and canvassing
- Mail, texting, and phone strategy
- Message crafting
- Data management and voter targeting
Participants walked out with the skills and knowledge about how to run an effective campaign and a clear plan for what they need to do to win their races.
Weekly Webinars Filling the Gaps
Liberty Action also runs weekly free webinars that go deep on individual campaign skills. Recent sessions include:
- March 4: Senior Legislative Advisor Erik Mortensen (Mort) taught activists how to effectively knock doors, phone bank, manage a table, and confront dishonest politicians.
- March 11: Prospective candidates and their campaign staff learned how to build a contact list to communicate their message to voters.
- March 18: Mort instructed activists on how to create and use candidate surveys to vet liberty candidates.
Building on the Asheville Bootcamp
The Jefferson City LCA followed a Liberty Activist Bootcamp in Asheville, Ohio on February 28th, where 32 aspiring activists learned how to organize, influence state and local government, and grow the liberty movement. The Jefferson City event already had 42 sign-ups a week before the date, signaling strong demand that carried through to the 48 final registrations.
